Last week, my friend MyThy texted me that Bon Bon Bon had chocolate making classes available at their Hamtramck location. I looked at the schedule and of course, chose the first available class. We also asked Amy if she could possibly pry herself away from her adorable little babe for a few hours and she came, too!
Alex and Margie set up six stations with the ingredients to make different bons and everyone partnered up. We had everything to make #2 High Tea – earl grey tea dark chocolate ganache + hemp seed nougat + smoke sugar + cornflower petals, #23 Matcha Crunch – matcha green tea white chocolate ganache + crispy rice, #30 Paczki – fried donut ganache (!!!) + Polish confiture + paczki sliver + donut sugar, #34 S’more – buttered graham + milk chocolate ganache + brûléed marshmallow PLUS new bons from the harvest collection Zucchini Bread and Butter – zucchini bread cream + brown butter ganache + candied zucchini peel!!!
The photo above shows the ingredients for our zucchini bread + butter bon station. We used a food processor to blend the zucchini buttercream together. Then we added a good pinch of sea salt. SO GOOD. We were so excited we let our class friends taste it. Alex had popsicles sticks at each station for tastes!
The zucchini cream was all blended and ready to be piped into the prettiest little bons! Margie helped get the brown butter ganache ready in a piping bag for us.
I piped the zucchini cream into the empty bon shells and then MyThy piped the brown butter ganache over it. Then we got to sprinkle the candied zucchini peel on the bons. Mine are the liberally sprinkled gals on the left and MyThy did the neat ones on the right.
Then we walked around to see the amazing handiwork of our fellow classmates. Look at these fun paczki bons sprinkled perfectly with sugar.
The S’more bon pre-torch. They had the coolest little pen-sized torch that I think I need in my life.
Amy’s station made these perfect Matcha Crunch bons. These are a solid bon, so she and her partner-in-chocolate got to slam the mold on the table to get the bubbles out. Aren’t they pretty?? It might be my favorite bon. It’s like a green tea Nestle Crunch bar.
How gorgeous are these High Tea bons with their cornflower and hemp nougat garnishes? This bon is for the dark chocolate lover and lover of all things pretty, too.
Here’s an outtake from picture time and just look at how Margie adoringly looks at Chris or now as she’s known, Britney Spears. We all feel that same way about her. While I was waiting for class to start, her family told me that Chris is a funny gal and likes to tell hosts/hostesses at restaurants that her name is Britney, but the only problem is that she forgets and then “Britney!” is yelled throughout the restaurant. My suggestion was to give the full name of Britney Spears, so everyone pays attention. And that’s how Chris became Britney Spears and captured our hearts. Also Chris is so 2015 because she was rubbing her belly during the photo shoot, surely because she knows she’s more suited for Snapchat or a gif.
And here are some of the bons I took home and shared with Marc. The class was seriously so fun! Definitely the most fun I’ve ever had on a Tuesday. Our classmates were really friendly and we laughed a lot. We learned about chocolate and all of the hard work that goes into these beautiful little bons.
The new harvest collection bons (including zucchini bread + butter!) make their debut at Bon Bon Bon stores on Friday, so go out and get those! Thanks, Alex + Margie + Britney Spears!
